He was also awarded the BWF Best male players of the year two years in a row in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

The duo have bagged 7 super series title in 2017 and 9 world tour titles in 2018.

Kevin was born on August 2, 1995 in Indonesia to Niawiti and Sugiarto Sukamuljo. He was raised in the village of Sumberberas in East Java, Indonesia. Since childhood he was in awe of his uncle Alvent Yulianto Chandra, the former doubles number 1 player and tried to imitate him.

His uncle soon realized the keen interest and potential Kevin possessed and mentored him to reach new heights in his career. Alvent Yulianto Chandra motivated him to give auditions at the PB Djarum general auditions in 2006, but he failed. The dejected shuttler didn’t gave up and after strenuous training he cleared the auditions next year.

He is the nephew of former doubles number 1 player Alvent Yulianto Chandra and draws inspiration from his mentorship till date. He is coached by Henry Iman Pierngadi and Aryono Mirahat. He enjoyed an enormous success along with his partner Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, the duo share a great rapport between them.

Badminton was in the blood of Sukamuljo, he is the nephew of former number 1 men’s doubles player Alvent Yulianto Chandra. The journey was not easy for the shuttler , he even failed at the PB Djarum general auditions in 2006, but the champion never gave up and finally passed the auditions in Djarum 2007.

At first he played in men’s singles, but then turned to doubles as he looked more comfortable in doubles. In 2012, he paired with Alfian Eko Prasetyo and won a bronze medal in men doubles at the Asian Junior Badminton championship in Korea.

In 2013, he paired with Masita Mahmudin in Mixed Doubles and won a silver medal at the BWF World Junior Championships. The real transformation began in 2014, when he partnered with Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and managed to win several championships like Japan Open (2017 ), BWF World Superseries Finals (2017), Hongkong Open (2017), and India Open (2018), Chinese Taipei Master (2015), Malaysia Master (2016), China Open (2016) and All England Open (2017).

In 2018, the ace shuttler along with partner Marcus Gideon was had a heated verbal conversation with the umpires over service height. He along with Marcus Gideon suffered a shocking defeat in the grop B in the Thomas Cup finals at Impact Arena.

The controversy erupted when the pair service was faulted three times in the game and the uneven controversy affected their performance in the match. Later after the match Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo called the service height incident as unfair.
