Kagiso Rabada, Chris Morris pull out of the inaugural 3T Cricket event

South African pacer, Kagiso Rabada and all-rounder Chris Morris will miss the inaugural 3T20 Cricket competition, which will also mark the resumption of domestic cricket in South Africa.

Rabada, who was all set to lead Kingfishers along with medium-pacer Sisanda Magala, withdraw their name due to deaths of their family members. All-rounder, Chris Morris will miss the competition due to personal reasons as per the report quoted on ESPN Cricinfo.

Thando (Kingfishers), Bjorn Fortuin (Eagles) and Gerald Coetzee (Kingfishers) have been called as replacements for the above-mentioned players. 

The 3T Cricket competition was scheduled for June 27th but was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league will see 24 South African cricketers playing in three teams –The Kingfishers, The Eagles, and The Kites. The league will be played in a new format where each team will play in two halves in a single match.

All three teams will be lead by South African international players. Quinton De Kock will lead The Kites, while Henrich Klassen and Ab De Villers will be leading Kingfishers and Eagles respectively.

Here’s a look at the full squads of all three teams:

Kites: Quinton De Kock (captain), Temba Bavuma, Jon-Jon Smuts, David Miller, Dwaine Pretorius, Lutho Sipamla, Beuran Hendricks, Anrich Nortje.

Kingfishers: Heinrich Klaasen (captain), Reeza Hendricks, Janneman Malan, Faf du Plessis, Thando Ntini, Gerald Coetzee, Glenton Stuurman, Tabraiz Shamsi.

Eagles: AB de Villiers (captain), Aiden Markram, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne, Andile Phehlukwayo, Bjorn Fortuin, Junior Dala, Lungi Ngidi.

Knowing the fact cricket has been impacted from the last three months due to Covid-19 Pandemic, the series will give a ray of hope to other countries to start their respective domestic seasons.
