Jinder Mahal Biography: Yuvraj Singh Dhesi, popularly known by his in-ring name Jinder Mahal, is an Indo-Canadian professional wrestler, is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment on Smackdown brand. Yuvraj Singh Dhesi, who is a nephew of wrestling legend Gama Singh, began his professional wrestling career in 2002 with training at the Martial Arts Fitness Center in Calgary, Alberta from Rick Bognar.

Jinder Mahal joined WWE in 2010, making a contract with Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). After making a television debut for WWE on Smackdown in 2011, Mahal feuded with renowned Indian WWE wrestler The Great Khali, Ted Dibiase, Sheamus and many more. He bagged his first-ever WWE Championship title, beating Randy Orton at Backlash. With this victory, he became the 50th recognized WWE Champion.

Mahal held several titles around his waist including All-Star Wrestling ASW Tag Team Championship once with Gama Singh Jr, Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE) Heavyweight Championship once, PWA Canadian Tag Team Championship once with Gama Singh Jr, PWA Heavyweight Championship two times, Stampede Wrestling International Tag Team Championship two times with Gama Singh Jr, WWE Championship once,
WWE United States Championship once and  WWE 24/7 Championship twice a time.

 

EARLY LIFE

Yuvraj Singh Dhesi was born on July 19, 1986, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He is the nephew of  Stampede Wrestling legend Gama Singh. Yuvraj persuaded his graduation in communications and culture from the University of Calgary. Having an interest in wrestling, Yuvraj joined Martial Arts Fitness Center in Calgary, Alberta, training with Rick Bognar.

PERSONAL LIFE

Jinder Mahal resides in Tampa, Florida, U.S. He belongs to a Punjabi Sikh family. Yuvraj Singh Deshi is unmarried and focusing on his wrestling career. Being a Punjabi, Mahal loves India and making the country proud of his recent accomplishments. Dhesi is a good friend with amateur wrestling champion and UFC fighter Arjan Bhullar.

PROFESSIONAL LIFE

Yuvraj Dhesi started his professional wrestling career in 2002 with the training at the Martial Arts Fitness Center in Calgary, Alberta. He also took wrestling training with Allen Coage and Gerry Morrow for Stampede Wrestling. During the early stage of the career, Yuvraj was involved in wrestling promotions like  Prairie Wrestling Alliance (PWA) where he became PWA Canadian Tag Team Champion with his cousin Gama SIngh Jr. and also held PWA Heavyweight Champion from 2008 to 2010. He was also a part of  Great North Wrestling (GNW), All-Star Wrestling (ASW), Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE) and Stampede Wrestling.

Yuvraj signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) developmental unit Florida Championship Wrestling, where he was given a new name as Jinder Mahal, He made his WWE’s main roster debut at Smackdown in 2011. He feuded renowned Indian WWE wrestler The Great Khali, Ted Dibiase, Sheamus and many more. He tried his luck to win the United States and Intercontinental title but failed to clinch the victory.

 

In 2012, Mahal, Slater and McIntyre formed a new faction as 3MB in the WWE. The alliance feuded with the team  Alberto Del Rio, The Brooklyn Brawler, and The Miz.  3MB competed in a number one contender’s tag team turmoil match for the WWE Tag Team Championship but tasted defeat.

After being removed from the contract in June 2014, Mahal was re-signed to WWE in July 2016 and teamed up with Rusev in several matches. In 2017, Mahal turned his head towards WWE Championship along with his new team The Singh Brothers. Mahal started his feud with then WWE Champion Randy Orton.  At Backlash, Mahal defeated Orton to win the WWE Championship and became the 50th recognized WWE Champion in history. Mahal lost his title to Styles ending his reign at 170 days. In the year 2018, Mahal got an opportunity to face Rusev for US title at Wrestlemania 34, which he won.

Mahal held several titles around his waist including All-Star Wrestling ASW Tag Team Championship once with Gama Singh Jr, Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE) Heavyweight Championship once, PWA Canadian Tag Team Championship once with Gama Singh Jr, PWA Heavyweight Championship two times, Stampede Wrestling International Tag Team Championship two times with Gama Singh Jr, WWE Championship once,
WWE United States Championship once and  WWE 24/7 Championship twice a time.

Mahal also made his video game debut as a playable character in  WWE ’13, WWE 2K14, WWE 2K18, and now in WWE 2K19.

Mahal is currently out of action due to his knee injury. Reportedly, it takes twelve months to recover.
