Jasprit Bumrah begins full Intensity Bowling practice with aim to return for Ireland tour

Jasprit Bumrah

Indian speedster Jaspirt Bumrah, who has been out of action since September 2022, is set to comeback next month. He is most likely to appear for India for their tour to Ireland in August for a 3-match T20 series. The Men in Blue will play their matches on 18, 20 and 23 August and Bumrah will get a good warm up before the major events begin.

India will be eyeing success in Asia Cup 2023 followed by the ICC Cricket World Cup at home soil. Bumrah’s presence holds special significance for India in both tournaments. Last year after he sustained a Back injury in the Asia Cup’s T20 format, he was unfortunately ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022, next month in Australia.

His absence was felt by India during semi-finale clash against England as Alex Hales and Jos Buttler stormed their way through to a 10-wicket victory. Rahul Dravid’s men will look forward to avoid any such humiliation in the WC this year and for that, fitness and rhythm of Jasprit Bumrah becomes very crucial.

The 29-year-old has reportedly begun for Bowling sessions at full intensity and he will be playing a few practice matches at the NCA. In order to manage his workload, he is not being straight away thrown to play the upcoming Deodhar trophy. He will be looked after by physios of NCA for the practice matches.

If he does well, Indian selectors are all set to give Jasprit Bumrah a headsup for the Ireland tour. “He will now play some practice games, which the NCA will organise. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their progress and will make a final decision after assessing them following the practice games.” – an NCA official said.
