Legendary South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis has been appointed as England’s batting consultant ahead of the two-match Test series for Sri Lanka in 2021. He has already served at this role with his home team when they toured England last year. As per the media reports Kallis was seen in talks with England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) where the latter was looking to fill their coaching slots for batting, spin, and fast bowling roles.

As ECB is currently working on the rotation policy which is applicable for all the players, staff, and officials to minimize their workload as well as stress amid this pandemic time due to the biosecure bubble where players are staying currently to play International cricket.

However, it is not sure that whether they will extend Kallis’s tenure in case the team performs well in Sri Lanka which they would look at their current Test lineup and will he continue for the Indian tour starting from February 4th 2021. Kallis is one of the greatest all-rounders who has ever played the game has a great record in the subcontinent where he averaged 55.62 and scored 45 hundred over there.

Other support staff that would accompany for England Test include Jon Lewis (fast bowling), Jeetan Patel (spin), and James Foster (wicketkeeping).

The English team will leave for Sri Lanka on January 2nd, 2021 ahead of playing their first test match on January 14th, 2021. However, in UK COVID-19 cases have started surfacing in huge numbers again, and considering these many countries have sealed their borders with their nation to avoid the spread of the virus.

The current England team is strong-headed as their recent victory that they earned in South Africa in a T20 series will be a major boost for them heading into the subcontinent for playing red-ball cricket against Sri Lanka.
