ISL: Devendra Murgaonkar signs three-year deal with FC Goa

Ahead of Indian Super League 2020-21 season , FC Goa have signed a three year deal with highly rated Devendra Murgaonkar in order to add more strength in their squad on a three year deal.

The 21-year-old joins the Gaurs from Salgaocar after the clubs agreed on an undisclosed transfer fee at the back of his performance in the Goa Pro League over the last couple of seasons.

“This is something like a dream come true for me. I have been an FC Goa fan since the Club’s inception and now I get to wear the colours and get onto the field, taking on the best in India. So, you can say I am living my dream right now. I feel blessed to have this opportunity and I want to take advantage of this with both hands,” Murgaonkar said in a statement.

He was picked in FC Goa squad for his amazing performances in Goa Premier League in 2018 where he has scored 20 goals followed by 9 goals in the next season. He was also the member of that Goa team who played Santosh Trophy in last two season. After his inclusion in the squad FC Goa’s Director of Football, Ravi Puskur is happy that they have roped in Murgaonkar in the upcoming season.

“Devendra is a player who has consistently performed at the Goa Pro League and has racked up goals, season after season. He’s a clever player who drops to assist in the build-up and also finds himself smart pockets of space. We are confident that he will suit our style of football. We hope that his development will be accelerated by training, being surrounded by players from the first team and by gaining minutes at the ISL level,” he said.

Indian Super League which was founded in 2013 in these six years the league has grown from strength to strength as total 11 teams who competed against each other in last season where they usually plays in a round-robin format in the league stage. Currently, Atletico Kolkata is the most successful team in the Indian Super League who has won title three times till now.The current League Winners Shield trophy holder is Goa, who have won it once since the trophy was unveiled during the 2019–20 season.
