Indian Cricketers to suffer pay cut due to COVID-19

Apart from the disheartening loss against New Zealand in the semi-final of the World Cup 2019, it has been a year to remember for Indian cricket. Not only did India won series at home but has managed to prove victorious overseas as well.

There have been various positives for Indian cricket team this year, be it improved fast-bowling performances or Indian winning overseas series.

2019 saw Indian fast bowling becoming a force to reckon not only in subcontinent conditions but overseas as well. Led by Jasprit Bumrah, Indian test bowling attack has done wonders over the last couple of years.

The five pacemen with the likes of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav have hunted in a pack and have been in successful in picking all the ten wickets in almost every innings.

This year, India won series against Australia down under, West Indies both home and away, Bangladesh and South Africa at home to name a few.

Unarguably, of all, India winning their maiden test series against Australia down under has to be the highlight of this year for Indian Cricket Team.
Indian former pacer, Irfan Pathan too doesn’t think otherwise, calling India’s test victory against Australia his favourite moment of the year.

“It’s been a very good year for Indian cricket but being a Test cricketer, my dream always was to beat Australia in Australia but I was not able to achieve that in my career. I’m so glad that this Indian team under Virat’s (Kohli) leadership has beaten Australia for the first time in their favourite and which is my favourite moment of Indian cricket in 2019,” the left-arm pacer added.

Irfan also praised Indian fast bowlers who according to him have improved leaps and bounds under the leadership of Virat Kohli.

“This year we saw India’s fast bowlers bowl beautifully for the country and it’s been one of the best fast bowling line-ups that we have seen. We saw the intent with which they bowled, they came in, bowled hard-swinging deliveries, new or old ball it didn’t matter. I have really seen the growth of Indian cricket especially in terms of fast bowling which has been the highlight for me this year,” Irfan Pathan was quoted as saying by Times of India
