IPL 2023 : “What happened between kohli and Gambhir is not good for cricket!” says Harbhajan Singh!

In response to the confrontation between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir after the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 1, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh gave his take. However, in a low-scoring match in Lucknow, the Bengaluru-based team defeated KL Rahul’s LSG by 18 runs.

However, after the game, Kohli and LSG coach Gambhir got into a heated argument that had to be broken up by people from their respective teams. The unpleasant on-field incidents, according to Harbhajan, were “not right for the sport.”

The former off-spinner brought up his contentious exchange against Sreesanth in 2008, which caused havoc. Harbhajan got into a fight with the former Punjab pacer during a game between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings), and the latter received a slap as a result. For his actions, Her received a season-long ban.

It wasn’t the very first time Kohli and Gambhir had a fight on the pitch in a premier league. Then-KKR captain Gambhir and then-RCB captain Kohli got into an intense dispute in 2013 at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium after the latter was dismissed. Even though they shared the changing room for team India, Harbhajan continued that the event in 2013 put a strain on their relationship.

“I am ashamed of what I did with Sreesanth in 2008. Virat Kohli is a legend, [he] should not get involved in such things. Whatever happened between Virat and Gambhir was not right for cricket.” – said Harbhajan Singh

“If you see the highlights of this match, you’ll say that there was more fighting than cricket going on. Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli already have their rivalry and differences from before itself. Their relationship was never the same after the incident at the Chinnaswamy Stadium long back.” – Harbhajan concluded.
