IPL 2023 Virender Sehwag blasts Delhi Capitals Batter Prithvi Shaw for his embarrassing temperament and reluctance to bring a change in him!

Former Indian batting legend Virender Sehwag has fired verbal volleys to Mumbai born Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw. He was considered as the next big thing in World cricket as he had announced himself as an aggressive stroke player.

When batting he pretty much resembles Sehwag’s batting style but off-late Shaw has been nothing like legend and even his old self. Shaw’s performance and form has dipped drastically and it is hard to believe that he was at one point of time considered among the best youngsters.

Back in 2018, Shaw led India’s U-19 team to a World cup glory and the players he once captained are excelling and opening up more opportunities for themselves. A day ago at Feroz Shah Kotla, Shaw failed to give DC the type of start we are used of seeing.

He suffered a soft dismissal to a short-pitched delivery by Mohammad Shami which was caught by Alzarri Joseph. For a fact it has become a routine (bowling short-pitched) for bowlers against Shaw as the Mumbaikar always seems to have a weak zone up there.

Virender Sehwag slammed Prithvi Shaw for his poor decision making and reluctance to make a change after years of getting out while facing a short pitched delivery. Sehwag did not spare Shaw who actually plays in the position where the former played before.

The 44-year-old went to give a comparison between Shubamn Gill and Prithvi Shaw suggesting that both played together in the U-19s but look at where Gill has reached and where Shaw is languishing.

“He has been dismissed playing those kinds of shots so many times…but he should also learn from his mistakes, right? Look at Shubman Gill, who played U-19 cricket with him and is now playing Test, ODIs and T20Is for India, but Shaw is still struggling in IPL.”
