Indian Cricket Legend Mithali Raj To Get A Biopic: Mithali Raj Indian Women’s team ODI and test captain is set to have a biopic of her hit the screens. The project was announced a few months ago.
“The script is still being developed. Her story is really inspiring, so the makers want to ensure that they put their best foot forward. The film is delayed, but it’s very much still happening,” a source told Deccan Chronicle.
Though Mithali Raj had said she would love to see the now global star Priyanka Chopra play her, reports suggest Taapsee Pannu has been offered the role.
“I think Priyanka Chopra will be a great choice (to play me in the biopic). Our personalities match a lot. However, I am not a movie buff, so I would love the experts to do their job,” Mithali Raj had said in one of the interviews to a leading daily.
Mithali Raj is finally getting the recognition she deserves. She has been one of the leading cricketers and is the leading run scorer in Women’s ODI cricket and the only one to get past 6000 runs. Around the end of last year, she also surpassed Rohit Sharma to get most runs for India in T20I going past the 2000 runs mark.
It is good to see women getting recognized for their good work, especially in sports. Mithali is an icon and a biopic on her would only set the right precedence and inspire woman to achieve.
Taapsee’s love for sports is not unknown as she recently invested in a Badminton franchise that plays in the Premier Badminton League. She also played the role of a hockey player in Sandeep Singh’s biopic. She would now pad up and be ready for this new role.
It would be interesting to see how the project shapes up.
