Indian Athletes Receive Guidelines Ahead of Asian Games in China

Asian Games

Asian Games 2023 is set to kick off in Hangzhou, China, from September 23rd to October 8th. Indian athletes have been issued a stern advisory by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). A 651-member contingent is gearing up for the neighbouring country tournament, and SAI has left no stone unturned in ensuring that Team India is well-prepared and culturally sensitive.

In preparation for the upcoming sporting extravaganza, SAI has meticulously crafted a “Dos and Don’ts” module. This module offers valuable insights into what Indian athletes should refrain from while visiting China and what actions they can take to make the experience smoother. The objective is to prevent any cultural misunderstandings that may lead to discomfort or embarrassment during their stay in the host nation.

According to reports, Indian athletes have been cautioned against making gestures that may be considered offensive, getting involved in altercations with spectators or locals, and engaging in any form of public disruption. Disrespecting the host nation’s culture and traditions could potentially land them in trouble.

A comprehensive 39-page rulebook has been prepared for the Asian Games, outlining the specific guidelines that athletes and support staff must adhere to. The rulebook is divided into three sections, covering Gate Entry Procedures, Anti-Doping Protocols, and Press and Media Interactions. It also provides information on travel arrangements and the facilities available at the sports village.

As the clock ticks down to the start of the Games, athletes are required to start following these rules diligently. They must also be prepared to address sensitive issues, such as political and social matters, with tact and diplomacy. Furthermore, athletes have been advised to refrain from misinterpreting or misrepresenting their country’s flag or symbols, avoiding any inadvertent controversies.

In addition to the guidelines, Team India has been prepping hard for their respective events. Recent victories have boosted their morale, but there is one young athlete who remains a concern. Despite the team’s overall success, a 20-year-old prodigy has yet to secure a breakthrough victory in any of his matches.

With just ten days left before the Games begin, athletes must stay disciplined and focused on the task at hand. These guidelines, although meticulous, are essential in ensuring a harmonious and successful sporting event for all participants.

The Asian Games 2023 promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and sportsmanship. The Dos and Don’ts provided by SAI serve as a reminder that respect for the host nation’s customs and traditions is just as important as winning medals. As the Games draw near, the world will be watching, and Team India is determined to make its mark, both on and off the field.
