India name 8 debutants in women’s hockey squad for Tokyo Olympics 2021

Indian women’s national hockey team announced 8 debutants in 16 member squad for upcoming Tokyo Olympics 2021 which is all set to start from July 23rd 2021. The squad looks well balanced as 8 experience campaigners are also part of the lineup.

The team will be led by experience star striker Rani Rampal. The eight debutants include the names like drag flicker Gurjit Kaur, Udita, Nisha, Neha, Navneet Kaur, Sharmila devi and Lalremsiami is the first player hailing from Mizoram in the team and Salima Tete.

Tete has lead Indian side at 2018 Youth Olympic Games which was scheduled at Buneo Aires to finish as runner up which means they won silver medal.

It will be India’s third Olympic appearance and their second consecutive outing after 1980 and 2016 held till date.
