India A impose crushing defeat on New Zealand by 5 wickets in first unofficial ODI

India’s young batting talent Prithvi Shaw plays a brilliant knock of 48 runs in 35 balls as India A beat New Zealand A by 5 wickets in the first unofficial ODI on Wednesday.

Prithvi Shaw has been called upon by the BCCI to replace injured Shikhar Dhawan in the Indian squad for the New Zealand series starting January 24, 2020. Prithvi smashed quickfire 48 runs after India A were put to the chase by New Zealand A.

Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who replaced Shikhar Dhawan in India’s T20 series, played a solid knock of 39 runs in just 21 balls while Mumbai Indian’s batsman Suryakumar Yadav hammered much important 35 in only 19 deliveries.

Chasing a decent total of 231, the India A opening batsmen took an aggressive approach and continued in the same way throughout the run chase to quite remarkably win the game by 123 balls to spare. Prithvi Shaw got a brilliant opening partnership to stand along with Mayank Agarwal. The opening duo stitched a 79-run partnership. After quick dismissal of both the openers Sanju Samson and Shubman Gill continued playing an attacking brand of cricket to quickly put India A on top again. They stitched a much important 66-run partnership for the third wicket which helped India cement its group on the match.

New Zealand managed to put up a decent total courtesy a sensible knock by Rachin Ravindra (49) and Tom Bruce (47). Mohammad Siraj bagged 3 wickets while Khaleel Ahmed and Axar Patel grabbed two wickets each for India. Vijay Shankar and Rahul Chahar also got a wicket each.

New Zealand A were bowled out on 230 in 48.3 overs while India managed to complete the chase successfully in just 29.3 overs.
