In the Kanpur Test, the Indian team won the match playing just 312 balls including both innings, which is a record for winning the game by playing the fourth fewest balls in Test history. England holds the record of winning the test match by playing the least number of balls. They won the match against West Indies in Barbados in 1935 in just 276 balls. Whereas Team India had won the Cape Town Test in 282 balls during the 2024 South Africa tour.
In the IND vs BAN Test, the Indian team batted brilliantly and scored more than 300 runs at a strike rate of 7.36. Which is a record in Test match. Earlier this record was in the name of South Africa. Who scored 340 runs in 50 overs while batting against Zimbabwe in 2005 at a strike rate of 6.80.
The Kanpur Test was the third shortest match in terms of balls. A total of 1040 balls were bowled in this match. The Test match that ended in the fewest balls was played in Centurion in 2000. The test match ended on the fifth day. Only 883 balls were bowled. In this match, both South Africa and England had given up one innings each. England had defeated South Africa in just 909 balls in the Oval Test played in 2022. There was no play on the first two days of that test match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored half-centuries in both the innings against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Where his strike rate was 128.12, which is the third highest till date. The record for the highest strike rate is in the name of David Warner, who made it against Pakistan in the 2017 Sydney Test. Then Warner had scored runs at a strike rate of 137.7. The second name in the list is of English player Harry Brook, who scored runs at a strike rate of 132.59 in the Rawalpindi Test against Pakistan in 2022.
Jaiswal has become the first Indian batsman to score a half-century in less than 50 balls in both the innings. Jaiswal has scored more than 50 for the 8th time in 13 Test innings on home ground. All these innings have come in 2024 only. This is the highest score of 50+ made by any batsman in a calendar year on Indian soil in Test matches.
Jaiswal has 901 runs in his name in the current calendar year, which is the third-highest number of runs in any calendar year for India. GR Vishwanath is on top of this list, who scored 1047 runs in 1979. Virat Kohli is the second player, who scored 964 runs in 2016.
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was chosen Player of the Series. He has received this award for the 11th time in his Test career and equalled Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan. Muralitharan also won Player of the Series 11 times.
This was the 7th time in Test cricket that a team had won a Test match, but no batsman had scored more than 75 runs. And neither has any bowler taken 4 or more wickets. In the first innings of this match, Jaiswal had scored 72 runs, which was the highest individual score for India. In bowling, no one from India could take more than 3 wickets.
