Ind vs Aus 3rd Test : India registered their third-lowest total against Australia at home after getting all out for 109

On Day 1 of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Matthew Kuhnemann recorded his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket, Nathan Lyon took three, and Todd Murphy took one as Australia bowled India out for 109 runs. Virat Kohli (22 runs) and Shubhman Gill (21 runs) were the top scorers for the team, in the innings. India had already put itself in a precarious position when, as till lunch, it had lost 7 wickets for a total of 84 runs.

For the first time in the series Rohit Sharma, the captain of India won the toss and chose to bat first against the visitors but failed to take the advantage of it as the Indian batsmen failed to contend with the Australian spinners, who had their tails up, on a wicket that gave more turn than those in Delhi and Nagpur.

As India got all-out for 109, it was India’s third-lowest total against Australia at home and their 14th-lowest total overall in Test cricket. India was able to surpass the 100-run threshold thanks to Umesh Yadav‘s quick 17 runs from 13 balls.

Currently, Australia has started to bat in their first innings and has so far scored 70 runs with the loss of just one wicket and is trying to maintain a strong hold in the game.

KL Rahul was replaced by Shubman Gill for India, and Mohammed Shami was rested by Umesh Yadav. Australia is being led by Steve Smith in Pat Cummins absence in third test.

India entered the third Test already having the lead in Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but all of their optimism was dashed since they struggled against spin.
