India suffered an embarrassing 10-wicket loss to the hands of Australia in the 2nd Masterclass ODI at the YS Reddy Stadium here in Vishakhapatnam. Steve Smith’s side took full advantage of the conditions yesterday at Andhra Pradesh by electing to bowl first after winning the toss.
The Men in Blues’ middle-order saw an unexpected collapse in front of Mitchell Starc’s resurgent bowling which removed both the openers and cleaned up the middle-order too. Starc was responsible for the dismissal of batters like Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul and Surya Kumar Yadav.

Out of the 4 batters, Surya Kumar Yadav suffered a worse outing and became a subject of criticism. The 32-year-old for the 2nd ODI in a row got out for a Golden Duck by Mitchell Starc to the same type of delivery while playing a similar shot. As Starc kept rattling Indian batters, one of his key deliveries were the one which moved inwards to a right-handed batter.

Starc used the delivery to get rid of Surya Kumar Yadav twice in this series and KL Rahul also gave his wicket to the blinding in-swinger. However, Surya is being slammed for his stance on both occasions and desire to play across the line of the ball.
India were bowled out for 117 and Australia chase it with whole 10 wickets to spare! 😯
The chief destroyer of Indian batting attack was Mitchell Starc, who took figures of 5-53. This results him to become the joint third-highest wicket-taker in ODIs. 👏#INDvAUS | #GreenTeam pic.twitter.com/AB5iRtEPNh

“His technique never looked right and will have to spend more time with his Batting coach.” – said Sunil Gavaskar. Amid all the criticism, Wicket-keeper Batsman Dinesh Karthik backed Surya Kumar Yadav all the way and said it is something that can happen to everyone.
“Imagine Suryakumar Yadav, I feel for him, two first-balls, I’m sure a lot of people will be saying, ‘Oh, he’s not making use of his opportunities’. It’s not true. To get out first ball means you are out before you’re set. It can happen to anybody.” – said Dinesh Karthik via Cricbuzz.
The 3rd Masterclass ODI will take place on 22 March at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
