In the latest ICC World Test rankings, James Anderson has become the number 1 bowler in the longest format for the 6th time in his colossal career. The 40-year-old is perhaps among the greatest players to ever Bowl in the game of cricket.

He has always been more than renowned for his ability to swing the ball in and out for the last 2 decades. The Englishman is currently the 3rd highest wicket taker in Test cricket and he is 18 wickets away from entering the 700 club.

In order to dethrone 2nd placed Australian Shane Warne, Anderson needs 27 wickets. After achieving so much in Test cricket, he will look forward to take the #2 spot because the summit is far away with 800 wickets for Muralidaran. His will to play competitive cricket at the age of 40 is itself commendable and it remains to be seen, how longer can he stretch.

About a week ago during England’s tour of New Zealand for a 2-match Test series, Jimmy Anderson collected 7-wickets in both the innings – 3 in (1st) & 4 in (2nd). He removed Kane Williamson for 6, Henry Nicholls for 4 and caught & bowled the dangerously looking Tom Blundell for 138 off 181.

Moreover, Ben Duckett and Harry Brook’s form with the bat led England to a big margin win by 267 runs. Anderson is also just 23 Test appearances away from becoming the most capped player in red ball cricket. Sachin Tendulkar currently holds the #1 spot with 200 Test matches.
