How “Mini Kerala” Turns Up for England in Kabaddi World Cup?
Get Ready to hear few Malayali Words from host England when they will be taking part in the World Cup to be played this year.
Instead of “Kabaddi- Kabaddi” get ready to hear words like “Pidikkedi(catch her) or “pootadda”(block him) Malayali words emanting from the middle.
The Kabaddi World Cup second edition is all set to take place in West Midlands hosted by England Kabaddi Association delivered by British Kabaddi League supported by World Kabaddi from March 17th-23rd 2025.
The Opening ceremony will involve students from school and the event is sponsored by Paddy Power and sponsored too by UK Government.
Both Men’s and Women’s Kabaddi team will be taking part in the marquee event where in female team will have 4 Malayali players in it.
When it comes to Men Players only two players from Southern India State will take part in the marquee event.

England Women’s team is currently coached by Saju Mathew another Keralite to represent England in World Cup.
England have majority Kerala population, as per latest data researched and extracted by Keralities living in England is closely around 6 Lakh.
Most of the Kabaddi Players, are first generation migrants, having moved to England, in the last decade making it close knit community in terms of players.
Apart from Athira sisters Neeraja Unni Suma, Neelima Suma in Thiruvananthapuram, and Pressymmol Kaathil from Kottayam feature in England Natioonal team and Abhijith Krishnan are part of Men’s team.
All six will represent Nottingam franchise in the British Kabaddi League which comprises entirely of Kerala players.
