The bowler faced severe backlash and abuses from both the communities, including Pakistani girls, who cursed Ali for choosing an Indian girl over them, sarcastically telling him Pakistan girls are pretty too.

Indians too pounced on the news, asking if India is running out of boys. The Twitter banter is likely to go on for few more days. Although Hassan Ali took to Twitter to claim that his marriage is not confirmed yet, and once confirmed, he will make a public announcement.

Pakistan pacer tweeted “just wanna clarify my wedding is not confirmed yet, our families have yet to meet and decide upon it. will make a public announcement very soon in sha allah”.

Some tweeps went to the extent of creating fake account of Ali’s alleged wife Shamia Arzoo, and tweeted, “We ask that you all please respect our privacy at this time as we work through this as a family.”

Some people even brought fixing in the picture, claiming this to be some sort of a conspiracy

His tweet was also compared to Pakistan’s PM’s famous tweet in 2014.

He will not be the first Pakistan player to marry an Indian girl. Shoaib Malik, who recently bid adieu to international cricket, married Indian tennis star Sania Mirza in 2010, Mohsin Hasan Khan married Reena Roy and Zaheer Abbas married Samina Abbas in 1988.

The irony is that all these Pakistan cricketers didn’t last long after they got married to Indian girls.
