G2 Esports

G2 Esports, a popular European esports organization, might finally have a chance to join the North American VALORANT scene in 2024. They’re looking to do this with the help of players who used to be part of The Guard, a well-liked tier-two team that recently won the VCT Ascension tournament.

According to esports journalist Alejandro Gomis, G2 Esports has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with multiple former players from The Guard. They want to sign at least three players from The Guard’s previous lineup if they’re allowed to enter the league.

Both G2 and The Guard have faced challenges in the VALORANT scene. G2 lost its chance at joining the league previously due to controversial statements made by their former owner, Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez Santiago.

On the other hand, The Guard missed their chance to enter VCT Americas because they didn’t meet the league’s participation agreement deadline. This decision by Riot upset many players and coaches, and it surprised The Guard’s roster and coaching staff.

Originally, Riot planned to have 10 teams in the league, but they eventually agreed to let The Guard’s five players try to find a suitable replacement team to join the league. It’s not just G2 looking to join; FlyQuest, another popular North American team, is also rumored to be considering entry into VCT Americas next year.

Next year could be a fresh start for both players and organizations, but it all hinges on whether Riot approves G2’s inclusion in the league.

As G2 Esports sets its sights on entering the North American VALORANT scene in 2024, the organization is banking on a strategic move that involves former players from The Guard. This tier-two team gained recognition after their recent triumph in the VCT Ascension tournament.

The esports community is abuzz with reports from Alejandro Gomis, a respected esports journalist, suggesting that G2 Esports has verbally agreed with multiple ex-players from The Guard. The goal? To secure the signatures of at least three former members of The Guard’s lineup, should they receive the green light to join the league.

This pivotal decision not only impacts G2 but also raises questions about the broader landscape, with rumours suggesting that FlyQuest, another renowned North American esports organization, is also contemplating its entry into the VALORANT competitive arena next year. With anticipation building, the future holds the promise of fresh starts and new horizons for both players and organizations, contingent upon Riot’s approval of G2’s inclusion in the league.
