From delivering cylinders with Father to hitting 30 off 5! KKR Batter Rinku Singh is a man of sheer belief!

From delivering cylinders with Father to hitting 30 off 5! KKR Batter Rinku Singh is a man of sheer belief!

Kolkata Knight Riders‘ Middle-order Batsman Rinku Singh became a house hold name for IPL fans when he smacked 5 sixes in a row to help his side prevail over reigning champions Gujarat Titans. It all took place last Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium where KKR chased down a total of 205 runs.

Many went on to compare Rinku Singh’s performance to West Indies’ Carlos Brathwaite during the 2016 ICC T20 World cup final where the latter had smashed 4 sixes in a row to win their 2nd T20 title at Eden Gardens. However, many were of the view that, Rinku’s outrage was something that they witnessed for the first time in a cricket field.

And rightfully so, the 25-year-old who did not even know how many runs were needed (in the final over) eventually became a hero and an icon for the youngsters. Rinku’s humbleness is such that he himself said that when 10 runs were needed off 2, he realized it can be carried out.

The Aligarh born Batter said sat with a media outlet and spoke about his struggles for making it to the top. Rinku Singh comes from an ordinary household having no access to the modern life and his father was a Hawker and worked as a Gas Cylinder specialist.

From absolutely nothing to something, it was very tough for Rinku Singh to break in and steal a lottery for KKR. About having a phone call with Shah Rukh Khan, the Leftie said that it was a great opportunity but he didn’t talk much to SRK due to his shy attitude.

One must wonder what Rinku Singh was going through at that moment and how he pulled off the unthinkable. In fact, Rinku himself admitted that he was anxious and nothing was going right until the final 2 balls of the Innings. And before that, the 26-year-old just kept on smacking the balls out of the boundary and eventually his Sheer Self-Belief finished off the match.
