The 70s century was the club’s most successful period as they finished as runners-up of Austrian Bundesliga of 1971 and appeared in the UEFA Cup where the club was eliminated in the first round. In 1974 they reached the finals of the Austrian cup but were defeat by Austria Wien by 2-3.
In 1978 the club renamed SV Casino Salzburg, but the new name doesn’t bring any fortune in the team till the 90s.
