FC Goa, commonly known as The Gaurs, is an Indian professional Football club that plays in the Indian Super League under the license provided in the shade of the All India Football Federation.

HISTORY

FC Goa was founded five years ago on 26th August, 2014 after the All India Football Federation, the main body behind the association football in India and IMG-Reliance announced the ownership bids of the eight selected teams upon the inaugural season of the Indian Super League.

The Indian businessman Venugopal Dhoot won the bidding for the Goa Franchise along with Dattaraj Salgaocar and Shrinivas Dempo. Later, Virat Kohli became one of the co-owners of the team.

The club became the first Indian sports club to launch a satellite TV Channel FC Goa TV on Videocon D2H.

The Brazilian Footballer Zico became the first manager of the club. The club played its first Indian Super League match against the Chennaiyin FC.

Club Ownership

The Club is currently under the ownership of Jaydev Mody, the chairman of the Delta Corp. limited, Venugopal Dhoot, the chairman of VIDEOCON and the Indian national cricket team captain Virat Kohli.

The Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, which is also known as The Fatorda, serves as the home ground of FC Goa. The stadium has the capacity to hold 20,000 spectators.
