Early Life

Esha Singh, born on January 1, 2005, in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, to Sachin Singh and Srilatha, came to prominence as a shooting prodigy. She was first drawn to a variety of activities, including go-karting, badminton, tennis, and skating, before discovering her real calling in shooting after visiting the Gachibowli Athletic Stadium shooting range.

Her rally driver father, Sachin Singh, encouraged her ambition by constructing a paper practice range at their home. Esha practiced her abilities both at the stadium and at home. Seeking professional instruction, she then enrolled in the Gun for Glory program in Pune, Maharashtra, which was created by former Olympic medalist Gagan Narang.

Shooting Career

Esha Singh began her shooting career in 2014, quickly rising to fame. In 2015, she won the Telangana state championship in the 10 meter air pistol category. Her abilities grew, and she won gold in the 10 meter air pistol event at the 62nd National Shooting Championships in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, at the age of 13, making her the youngest senior champion.

She continuously dominated youth and junior tournaments, winning multiple gold medals, including an impressive triumph at the Khelo India Youth Games in 2019. She won a silver medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany, in 2019 and two gold medals at the Asian Junior Championships in the 10m Air Pistol Women and Mixed Team categories.

Aside from the 10m Air Pistol discipline, she competes strongly in the 25m Standard Pistol and 25m Pistol categories, notably winning gold for India in the 25m Pistol team event and silver as an individual at the Asian Games 2022 in Guangzhou, China.

Her achievements extended to the Asian Airgun Championships in Taoyuan, Taiwan, where she won gold in the junior category. She also triumphed at the Asian Shooting Championship in Doha, Qatar, winning solo and mixed team gold medals in the 10m air pistol (junior) category.

Despite originally missing Olympic qualification, the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics provided Singh with another opportunity to pursue her Olympic ambition, demonstrating her perseverance and determination in the face of adversity.
