Erin Burns Biography: Erin Burns is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Australian national women’s cricket team. She is a free-floating batsman and also an effective off-spinner. She is of high utility when playing the shorter format of the games especially, T20 cricket. She has been around in the Australian domestic setup for quite a long time and she finally made her debut for the Australian national team in 2019.

Early Life & Journey

Erin Burns was born on 22 June 1988 in Wollongong, New South Wales. Burns was a native of New South Wales but she had to shift bases due to the strong competition for a place in the NSW team and as a result, she moved to the newly formed Tasmania. Her breakthrough year with Tasmania came in 2009. In the same year, she won the Tasmanian Roar player of the year award. On the basis of her performances, she was picked for the national team but did not make her debut then. She continued to perform in the domestic competition especially in T20 as she appeared to be a real asset for the teams she has played for.

Soon she caught the eyes of the national selectors and as a result, was selected in Australia A women’s team that was touring New Zealand. She was a constant member of the Australian A women squad during the 2012-13 seasons. Before the start of the 2019-20 season, she signed her first-ever senior contract with her native team the New South Wales.

Finally, in 2019 September she made her women’s ODI international and World T20 international debut against West Indies. When it comes to the women’s Big Bash League she has been a part of the Hobart Hurricanes for the first three addition and then she moved on to Sydney Sixers.

She made her one-day international debut on 8 September 2019 against West Indies women in North sound.

Her T20 international debut came on 2nd October 2019 against Sri Lanka Women in Sydney.

She has only played one ODI for Australia in which she has did not manage to pick up any wicket and has an economy of 6. She has played 5 T20 internationals for Australia in which she has batted once and has a high score of 30 not out and her strike rate is 166.66. With the ball in her hand, she hasn’t picked up a wicket in T20 but has an economy of 4.62 which is very efficient.

When it comes to the Women’s Big Bash League, she has played 75 matches in which she has scored 1151 runs with a high score of 60. She is being equally effective with the ball picking up 32 wickets with her best bowling spell consisting of three wickets and five runs.
