ECB appoints Tim Macdonald as England Women's Senior Assistant coach

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has appointed the former Australian seamer Tim Macdonald as the senior assistant coach of the England Women’s team on Wednesday. This decision was taken to improve the bowling of the side especially the pace attack of England’s Women’s team.

The 39-year-old Macdonald has also worked with England Women’s team during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year for an interim period. Besides, Macdonald also has experience in working in the Women’s Big Bash League under head coach Lisa Keightley for the Perth Scorchers.

“I’ve known Tim for a while and I’ve worked with him previously and I knew what skills he would bring to the group, especially with the fast bowlers,” Keightley said.

“He was a great addition across the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia and when it came to the interview he was the stand-out candidate in terms of helping the team continue their improvement.”

Keightley praised the former as he joined the England Women’s squad at Derby on Tuesday where the team is currently training under the bio-secure environment arranged by the ECB. The Women’s team is also slated to play white-ball series against South Africa in the coming days at home, marking the return of Women’s cricket after the coronavirus pandemic.
