Drakes is the son of Vasbert Drakes, who is also an international and veteran cricketer for the West Indies.
Playing Cricket Career
On January 18, of the year 2018, In the regional four-day match for the 2017–18 season, Drakes played for Barbados for the first time in first-class action. On February 9, of the year 2018, Dominic Drakes made his List A debut for Barbados in the Regional Super50 of the 2017–18 season.
One of the five players in the Caribbean Premier League to watch in the year 2018 was Dominic Conneil Drakes. On September 4th, of the year 2018, he played his first Twenty20 match for the Barbados Tridents in the competition. Dominic Drakes was selected for the West Indies Emerging Team for the 2019–20 Regional Super50 competition in the month of October of the year 2019.
Drakes was selected for the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots roster for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League in July of the year 2020.
St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots won their first CPL (Caribbean Premier League) championship on September 15, of the year 2021, thanks in large part to Drakes’ unbroken 48 runs off 24 balls in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League) championship game. Sometimes people referred to Dominic as the match’s guy. The following month, Dominic Drakes has added to the Chennai Super Kings 2021 Indian Premier League lineup to replace the injured Sam Curran.
Drakes was a member of the West Indies Twenty20 International (T20I) team during their November 2021 series against Pakistan. On December 13, of the year 2021, against Pakistan for the West Indies, he played in his first T20I match.
In the month of February of the year 2022, the Gujarat Titans made a bid on Dominic during the auction for the Indian Premier League competition. Drakes was acquired by the Colombo Stars in the month of July of the year 2022 for the third season of the Lanka Premier League.
Drakes was included in the West Indies ODI squad for the series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the month of May of the year 2023. On June 4, 2023, during the opening ODI (One Day International) of the series, Dominic Conneil Drakes made his One Day International (ODI) debut.
