Discovery of 8 New Pokemon and Abundance of Content in Scarlet and Violet’s The Teal Mask Datamine

Pokemon, Esports

While most Pokemon fans are excited about the new DLC, The Teal Mask, it seems that Game Freak is already looking ahead to The Indigo Disk’s content. Dataminers, like mattyoukhana, delved into the code of SV version 2.0.1, which came out with The Teal Mask DLC, and they discovered some placeholders hinting at content meant for The Indigo Disk.

Although there’s no clear label, the code contains entries for four new abilities, eight new Pokemon species, 15 new moves, and 76 new items. These seem to be reserved for The Indigo Disk DLC.

There’s been a lot of speculation about what the eight new Pokémon species in The Indigo Disk might be. We can already rule out four names: Raging Bolt, Iron Crown, Archaludon, and Terapagos, as they have been confirmed to be coming with The Indigo Disk. This leaves us with four remaining slots, but three of them are linked to other rumours.

Two of these slots are believed to be Paradox versions of Entei and Terrakion, completing the Legendary trios since Paradox Suicune, Virizion, Raikou, and Cobalion are already in the game or on their way. There’s also a possibility of a third evolution for Applin, called Dipplin, in the second DLC, although some dispute this due to file slot spacing not aligning with the National Dex.

The last spot is the most mysterious, as none of the current rumours seem to fit unless a Pokémon based on the Japanese folklore character Momotaro isn’t Ogerpon and is still to come.

Additionally, based on this data, we’ve learned that Ogerpon’s different masks are held items, not key items. There’s also a new item called the Glimmering Charm, which increases the number of Tera Shards you earn after completing a raid.

Furthermore, there are several dozen slots reserved for additional TMs, but there is no information available about the moves they might contain.

In the ever-evolving world of Pokémon, anticipation for future content remains high as Game Freak, ever the visionary, teases what lies beyond the horizon. The Teal Mask DLC may have only just graced our screens, but diligent data miners have already unveiled intriguing hints within the code of SV version 2.0.1, whispering about what’s in store with The Indigo Disk.
