Dharun Ayyasamy is an Indian track athlete who was born on December 31, of the year 1996. Dharun Ayyasamy is an expert in the 400-meter and 400-meter hurdles races. In the Summer Olympics‘ 4 x 400-meter relay of the year 2016, Dharun Ayyasamy took part.

Early Life

Dharun was born on December 31, of the year 1996 in the Tiruppur district’s Ravuthampalayam village, close to Avinashi. His father passed away from TB when Dharun Ayyasamy was in the fourth grade. Dharun’s sister Sathya plays volleyball for the state of Tamil Nadu, and his mother is a school teacher.

Dharun finished his education at The Century Foundation School in Tirupur under the tutelage of Mr. Alagesan, and ever since, Dharun Ayyasamy hasn’t turned back. At the Alva’s College of Arts in Moodabidri, in the state of Karnataka, Dharun Ayyasamy later completed his graduation in Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). Dharun Ayyasamy competed in kho kho for the state of Tamil Nadu before moving to athletics in the eleventh grade.

Track and Field Career

Dharun Ayyasamy finished in a time interval of only 0.03 seconds which is faster than his teammate Indian Jithin Paul, whom he passed at the final hurdle, to win the 400-meter hurdles gold medal at the South Asian Games of the year 2016 in the city of Guwahati of the city of Assam.

Dharun Ayyasamy was a member of the relay team that, in the month of July of the year 2016, broke the 4 400 m national record in the city of Bangalore and qualified for the Olympics. The group of Dharun, Mohammad Anas, Kunhu Muhammad, and Arokia Rajiv ran a 3:00:91, shattering their own personal best of 3:02.17 from Turkey four weeks prior. The relay team’s performance allowed them to move up to 13th in the world rankings. After the years 1964 and 2000, it was the third time an Indian men’s relay team made it to the Olympics stage.

Dharun set a new national record in the month of August of the year 2018 as he took home the silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles event at the Asian Games in the capital city of Indonesia i.e. Jakarta with a time interval of only 48.96 seconds.
