Deepika Padukone reveals her all-time favourite cricketer

Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, who is currently busy with promotions for her next film on an acid-attack victim, recently revealed her all-time favourite cricketer. Deepika will also be seen in the film ‘83’ which is based on India’s historic cricket World Cup triumph of 1983. She will be playing the role of Romi Dev, the wife of Kapil, who will be played by her real-life husband Ranveer Singh. Deepika said she watches cricket matches with Ranveer while adding that her husband is a huge fan of football as well.

Ranveer and I watch matches together, he is a very big football fan which everyone knows – but he is also a big cricket fan. We don’t watch every single match, but yes, when there are important games, we either make it a point to sit with each other or with family and friends and make it an event, like the whole nation does,” she said while speaking to Star Sports.

Deepika Padukone then named her all-time favourite cricketer and it is none other than the former India captain Rahul Dravid. Much like most Dravid fans, she highlighted on why it is not just about how many runs you score but also about how you conduct yourself off the field, which is why Dravid is her favourite “For me he (Dravid) is somebody I have admired and looked up to, and, he is from Bangalore,” Deepika said.

Deepika’s fight with depression is well known. She often talks about it and tries to educate people about mental health issues. Talking about it again, Deepika said that mental health is as important as physical health and that there should be a balance between both.

At times you feel your body is not keeping up with the mind. I think sometimes it’s the mind that takes over – and nurturing that is very important. A young athlete will figure that along the way, but they should pay attention to that – the grit, courage, determination and spirit is important,” she explained.
