Last summer several teams were interested in acquiring Danny Green during the off-season and one of those teams was Dallas Mavericks. But then Danny Green ended up signing with the Lakers in the free agency.

Recently, Danny Green expressed his thoughts on why he joined the Lakers when he appeared on “Take it There” show with Taylor Rooks as he said:

“Dallas was very interested, the Lakers were interested,” Green said of his free agency. “But the Lakers, to me, were front-runners to me because of the pieces they had now.

“Dallas has some really good pieces, but I think it would be a year or two for them to be in that conversation,” Green added.

“But yes, those were the two front-runners. Outside of knowing what Toronto was able to offer, it was the Lakers and Dallas.”

The Mavericks were actively tracking Danny’s transfer news and he also showed some interest in joining them, as his longtime teammate from Raptors Kawhi Leonard also made his mind before joining the Clippers. However, the door was open for Green to sign a two-year, $30 million cater to his preferred team.

But he ended up signing for the Lakers in the late summer and got enough minutes by the side to play as he unleashed defensive skills that contributed in Lakers leading the Western Conference with a formidable record of 49-14. Lakers have also qualified for the playoffs, owing to their formidable lineups in the league featuring LeBron James and Anthony Davis. As of now, Lakers have are also one of the strongest contenders to hold the title but it’s still unclear if the 2019-20 season will recommence or not after the league officials had suspended the whole season due to the Coronavirus pandemic globally.
