The transfer saga of the midfielder has been one of the curious transfers since the start of the 2019-20 season. The player was linked with many European clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester United. However, Inter’s plans might have suited the player. Moreover, Tottenham Hotspurs were unable to strike the deal with Inter even though the player had an option to leave the North London club for free.

The Portuguese tactician, Jose Mourinho, the manager of Spurs admitted that the protracted talks between the clubs have frustrated both himself and the player. He said;christian-eriksen-tottenham

“It is not Tottenham’s fault that on the 25th of January we are in the situation,”

“The only thing I can say is Eriksen, since I arrived, he is behaving in a very, very professional way, with me and the team.

“Tottenham is the last one to blame for this situation, but to be on the 25th of January in a situation like this is not nice.”

On the other hand, Beppe Marotta, CEO of Inter Milan was confident about completing the deal for the player. He said;

“We won’t hide, you all know we’ve been negotiating with Tottenham for some time. His contract is due to expire on June 30, so the only rights we are discussing are for those six months,”

Also, Tottenham Hotspurs confirmed that Brandon Austin will be joining Denmark based outfit Viborg on loan until the end of the season. The 21-year-old goalkeeper, who signed a new Spurs deal running to 2022 in December, will move to Denmark subject to international clearance.
