Chelsea defender hits out against racist remarks

Even though Frank Lampard outclassed the “Special One” at White Hart Lane, the racist remarks against Antonio Rudiger have grabbed the headlines. The German player was particularly targetted against Spurs where Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspurs 2-0.

During the process, Rudiger informed the match officials to stop the racial abuse. Even though the match authorities used the public announcement to regulate the behavior of supporters, it did not yield positive results and all the efforts went in vain.

Soon after the match, the Blues defender took his Twitter to vent out his anger. The defender has also asked for huge penalties when the supporters are found guilty.  On his Twitter wall, he wrote;

The 26-year-old player also mentioned as follows on his Twitter handle;

I don’t want to involve Tottenham as an entire club into this situation as I know that just a couple of idiots were the offenders. I got a lot of supportive messages on social media from Spurs fans as well in the last hours – thank you a lot for this.

Rudiger also mentioned the support he received from the Tottenham Hotspurs officials and their fans after he mentioned about the racist comments. The Chelsea defender has also asked the authorities to use the Television and other capturing media like security and CCTV cameras to identify the individuals who were involved in the racist comments.

“I really hope that the offenders will be found and punished soon, and in such a modern football ground like the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with dozens of TV and security cameras, it must be possible to find and subsequently punish them.”

The player also lashed out regarding the racism still existing in 2019. He said that it is a shame that racism still exists in 2019 and also questioned that when it will stop?.

This is not the first time in Premier League when a particular player was targetted racially. In a recent clash between Manchester United vs Manchester City, where Manchester United ran 2-1 against the PL reigning champions, Fred and Lingard were abused at Etihad. Following the incident, Fred also took his Twitter to vent out the frustration.

After the victory against Mourinho’s side, Chelsea sit 4 points clear of the 5th positioned Sheffield United where Frank Lampard will be facing the Southampton on Thursday.
