Burton van Rooi was a member of the Namibian national team that competed in the 2003 Cricket World Cup, Namibia’s first-ever appearance in the tournament. On February 23, of the year 2003, during Namibia’s group stage match against India, which Namibia lost by a score of 181 runs, Burton van Rooi made both his One Day International (ODI) and international debuts. On October 26, of the year 2006, Burton van Rooi made his first-class debut for Namibia against Free State as part of the 2006–2007 SAA Provincial Challenge. Burton van Rooi took seven wickets for the match, including a four-wicket haul in the first innings and a three-wicket haul in the second. Burton van Rooi’s final competitive cricket match was a first-class match between Namibia and Northerns in the month of March of the year 2007 as part of the SAA Provincial Challenge for the 2006–07 season.
