Bundesliga set to begin 2020-21 season from September 18th

The 2020-21 Bundesliga season will begin from September 18th and end on May 22 according to the match calendar, the German Football Association (DFB) unveiled on Friday.

The first round of the league will be played from September 11 to 14th September. The final match has been scheduled for May 13, 2021, in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.

The start of the season has been delayed by about a month due to the coronavirus pandemic, which delayed the conclusion of the 2019-20 campaign by several weeks.

The first round of the league will be followed by the second one, which will be played from December 13 to December 23, 2020.

Due to time constraints this season, the winter break has been reduced considerably as the third round of the league will resume from 14th January 2021.

“The two semi-finals of the DFB Cup are scheduled for the first weekend in May, but these two dates are still subject to the last pending coordination talks,” said the DFB”s statement

When planning for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, numerous aspects had to be taken into account, in addition to the dates of the DFB Cup, and above all the other rounds of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League from the current 2019/20 season, which will be held in August, as well as the encounters of both competitions in the coming season,” DFL added.

The DFB(German Football Association) who organize Bundesliga is working hard to ensure that the top tier league becomes successful.
