Bowler Ashok Dinda Ignored By Bengal Team for Match against Gujarat

Out of favor India pacer Ashok Dinda was once again ignored as he was not included in the Bengal’s behavioral squad for their Elite Group A Ranji Trophy match against Gujarat starting on Friday.

Dinda, who played 13 ODIs and 9 T20s for India, was dropped from the squad for ‘misbehaving’ with bowling coach Ranadeb Bose and then refused to apologize ahead of the match against Andhra. CAB Joint Secretary Abhishek Dalmiya said, Based on the opinion of the team management, the selectors have not yet considered joining Dinda.

It is to be noted that Dinda was part of the playing eleven in the Ranji Trophy match between Bengal and Andhra on Wednesday, but was dropped just before the match. Ashok Dinda had an argument with the bowling coach of the Bengal team, Ranadeb Bose. It was said that in the argument Dina used offensive language against the coach, with whom he has had differences in the past too.

Taking disciplinary action against Dinda, CAB showed him the door before the match against Andhra Pradesh. However, Dinda was also told that he should apologize in writing to the coach, failing which, he was forced out of the team.

After Dinda was shown the door Bengal coach Arun Lal had termed his absence as unfortunate and had also said that it was an opportunity for another young gun to cash in and make it count in their Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, Sudeep Chatterjee, who is struggling with bad form was also replaced by left-handed freshman Kazi Junaid Saifi.
