
Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Cricket Australia to set up India fan zone
For the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Cricket Australia (CA) has announced a special seating arrangement for Indian fans at the venue. These venues also include the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
The Border-Gavaskar trophy between India and Australia is scheduled to start on 22 November 2024. This will be a 5-match Test series including a thrilling day-night Test in Adelaide on December 6.

CA has launched a Multicultural Action Plan to engage fans and create an electrifying atmosphere. A statement from Cricket Australia read, “Aligned with Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Action Plan, these fan zones will foster an inclusive environment for Indian cricket fans, promising an electrifying atmosphere.”
CA has also encouraged Indian fans to book their seats in Indian Fan Zones and bring traditional musical instruments to have much more fun. “Fans are encouraged to secure their seats in the Indian fan zones, embracing the vibrant atmosphere by donning blue attire and traditional instruments like the Dhol for a family-friendly experience,” the statement further added.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy full details
This will be the first since 1991/92, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be played in a 5-match Test series format. This will. provide an ample opportunity for both India and Australia to further solidify their place in the next year’s ICC World Test Championship final.
The first India vs Australia match for the coveted Bodeer-Gavaskar trophy will be played on November 22 in Perth. This will be followed by a day-night match in Adelaide on December 6. Third match of the series is scheduled for Gabba on December 14. The fourth Test match will be a boxing day Test and will be played in Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Fifth and the final Test of the series will be played on January 3, 2025, at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Last time, the Border-Gavaskar trophy was held in India, where the host won the series by 2-1. However, Australia claimed the bragging right after defeating India at the World Test Championship final at The Oval. But when it comes to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India has held the coveted title since 2017 on the back of consecutive series triumphs away from home.
This time Australia will look to capitalize on their home advantage and will try to win the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Meanwhile, India will try to replicate their previous record of BGT in Australia. It is tough to say who will win the trophy this time, but one thing is for sure – this series is going to be an exciting one.
