Big Breaking: After Anahat Singh; Suraj Chanda Became 1st Indian to Win FISU World University Squash Championship
Indian Squash is on roll, recently Anahat Singh became World Junior Squash Champion latest to join the bandwagon is Suraj Chand in different capacity who won FISU World University Title.
He defeated Hungary’s Benedek Takacs, in a five game final held in Mumbai on Thursday.
He was representing India as well as Somaiya Vidyavihar University, where he defeated his compatriot by 3-2 in the night of the final in a closely contested match.
In the game which was tied till 4th set, it was all down to last set where Mumbaiker brought his A game on the table to beat his opponent by scoring 11-4 to clinch gold medal.
He was galvanished and renovated with home crowd support in last game which helped him big time to bring his A game in the penultimate hours of the game.
His victory is perfect testament to how well Indian Squash have progressed at University level and credit should be given to stakeholders who are working hard behind the scenes to make ecosystem even more stronger.
