Pamela Rose Martinez, popularly known by her in-ring name Bayley, is an American professional wrestler, who is currently working in World Wrestling Entertainment under the in-ring Bayley on Smackdown brand. Bayley is thecurrent Smackdown Women’s Champion.
Martinez started her professional wrestling career by joining several wrestling promotions including Big Time Wrestling, NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Pro Wrestling Destination and Shine Wrestling. Martinez was a part of Independent circuit from 2008 to 2012.
Bayley held several championships around her waist in which she is the NXT Women’s Champion once, one-time Raw Women’s Champion, one-half of the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions with Sasha Banks, and a one-time SmackDown Women’s Champion. She is recognized as the first women’s Triple Crown and Grand Slam Champion in WWE history.
Bayley joined professional wrestling having influenced by several wrestlers including The Rock, Rey Mysterio, John Cena, Victoria, Bret Hart, Triple H and many more.
EARLY LIFE
Pamela was born on June 15, 1989, in Newark, California, United States. Her father is a Mexican American while her mother is an Anglo-American. Martinez persuaded her academics from Independence High School.
Before entering into professional wrestling, Bayley was involved in other sports like volleyball and basketball. She developed her interest in wrestling at a very young when she used to watch WWE and became a fan of wrestling legends like Lita and Trish.
PERSONAL LIFE
Bayley resides in Austin, Texas, United States. In 2010, Martinez went into a relationship with Aaron Solow, who is also a professional wrestler from San Francisco. Reportedly, they got engaged in November 2016. They don’t have any kids until now.
Martinez has delivered her interest in opening her own wrestling school, once her in-ring career gets over.
PROFESSIONAL LIFE
Martinez started her professional wrestling career in 2008 when she joined Big Time Wrestling’s training classes by head trainer Jason Styles. Martinez wrestled under the ring name Davina Rose for Big Time Wrestling from 2008 to 2012. Before becoming a part of World Wrestling Entertainment, Rose became a part of numerous wrestling promotions like NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Pro Wrestling Destination and Shine Wrestling.
In 2012, Martinez signed a deal with WWE and later made debut for WWE’s developmental wrestling unit NXT in 2013. Martinez lost her very first match against Paige on NXT. With a fresh in-ring name Bayley, she feuded with divas like Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch for NXT Championship and after several failed attempts. Lynch defeated Sasha Banks to win the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time. Bayley lost the championship to Asuka, ending her reign at 223 days.
Bayley made her WWE main roster debut in 2016 where he teamed up with Sasha Banks to bag the victory against Charlotte and Dana Brooke. In 2017, Bayley started her feud with Charlotte Flair and later defeated her in the main event to win the Raw Women’s Championship with the help of Sasha Banks. At WrestleMania 33, Bayley defended her title successfully against Charlotte, Banks, and Jax in a fatal four-way elimination match.
In 2018, Bayley and Banks joined forces and created a tag team, known as “The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection”and won the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship eliminating Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville lastly in a tag team Elimination Chamber match.
Bayley was drafted to Smackdown in 2019 and bagged the Money In The Bank contract that gave her a chance for a women’s championship match at any time. She cashed in her contract and won the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time. With this victory, Bayley became the first WWE Women’s Grand Slam winner in WWE history.
