Barcelona set to appoints Ronald Koeman as the new head coach

Barcelona FC on Wednesday confirmed appointing Ronald Koeman as the new head coach of the side after terminating Quique Seiten’s contract.

Ronald is the head coach of the Netherlands football team and he is now all set to join Barcelona as the head coach next week. This development takes places after Barcelona’s terrible performance against Bayern Munich leading to a loss by 8-2.

The club soon terminated the sporting director Eric Abidal’s contract in order to resurrect the fresh First team for the upcoming season.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu also confirmed that the former Barcelona defender will be the next coach as he said, “If nothing goes wrong, Koeman will be Barça’s head coach next season. We already know how he thinks and his philosophy” Bartomeu told Barca TV.

The 57-year-old landed in Barcelona after completing his releasing formalities with the Netherlands’ team at the national headquarters.

Koeman has had a successful stint with the Netherlands since he joined the side in 2018. He also helped the side qualify for the Euro 2022. Besides, he won four La Liga titles when he played for Barcelona and also helped the side win 1991/92 European Cup final.

Barcelona finished the 2019-20 season five points behind their arch-rival Real Madrid in the second place. They also lost to the Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the Champions League last week.
