Australian umpire Ben Treloar is on duty in India this week as part of an umpire exchange programme run by the BCCI and Cricket Australia. He is standing in the Ranji Trophy match between Delhi and Gujarat in Delhi, which began on 18 October and is scheduled to finish on 21 October 2026. It is the first of two Ranji Trophy assignments he has been given in the country.
Treloar's second appointment follows soon afterwards. He will umpire the Ranji Trophy fixture between Mumbai and Haryana in Mumbai from 26 to 29 October. The appointments for both matches were set out in a release from Cricket Australia. His stay in India therefore takes in two domestic games in two different cities, Delhi and Mumbai, during the second half of October.
Treloar brings plenty of experience to the assignments. He has officiated in 30 First-Class matches, 20 List A matches and 39 Big Bash League games. He has also stood in two Women's ODIs and four Women's T20Is. That body of work across several formats and competitions is the background he carries into the Ranji Trophy fixtures in Delhi and Mumbai this month.
Away from the middle, Treloar works as the Umpire Education Officer at Cricket New South Wales. The exchange also sends an Indian official the other way. Parashar Joshi travels to Australia and will stand in two Sheffield Shield matches and one One Day Cup match. Joshi has officiated in 19 First-Class matches across the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy, and in 32 List A matches in the Vijay Hazare and Deodhar Trophies.
Joshi has also stood in 40 T20 matches, which include games from the IPL and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His Australian programme gets under way with Queensland v Tasmania at the Gabba, scheduled for 11 to 14 November. That means the Indian umpire will begin work in Australia a few days after Treloar finishes his second Ranji Trophy match in Mumbai, which ends on 29 October.
The rest of Joshi's schedule has also been laid out. After the opening match at the Gabba, he will stand in a One Day Cup match at the same ground on 16 November. He then travels to Sydney for the fixture between New South Wales and Queensland, which is set for 22 to 25 November. Those games make up his appointments in Australia under the exchange between the two boards.
For Treloar, attention now turns from the Delhi v Gujarat match, which ends on 21 October, to his next job. He is due in Mumbai for the meeting between Mumbai and Haryana, which runs from 26 to 29 October. That game is the second and last Ranji Trophy appointment mentioned for him in India under the exchange arrangement agreed by the BCCI and Cricket Australia.
