Australian Open 2024: Novak Djokovic advances to the quarterfinals, will face Fritz for a place in the semis

The top seed player at the Australian Open 2024, Novak Djokovic, has advanced to the quarterfinals after a comfortable Round 4 victory against the 20th seed Frenchman, Adrian Mannarino. The Serbian was in full flow in his round 4 match, as he did not give Mannarino a chance to blink and finished the match easily in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, and 6-3.

Novak will now face the 12th-seeded American player, Taylor Fritz, in his quarterfinal match. Fritz has also been in top form this year and is coming to the quarters after beating the Greek player, Stefanos Tsitsipas. Stefanos was seeded seventh but could not get the better of Taylor Fritz in their round 4 match on Sunday.

The match between Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz will most probably be played at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. It will be really interesting to see how Djokovic tackles the precision of Fritz, who is at the peak of his tennis career at the moment. Djokovic has an opportunity to have a shot at his favorite Grand Slam for a record 11th time.

Novak Djokovic, who is the number one ranked player as of now, did not have the greatest of starts at the Australian Open 2024. In his round 1 match against Dino Prizmic of Croatia, he dropped a set, and it was his longest Grand Slam round 1 match against any opponent.

In his second-round match as well, he was made to work really hard for each and every point by Alexei Popyrin, who was very close to leading Novak in the match. Popyrin won the second set against him and also took the third set to a tie-breaker.

After his second-round match, Djokovic went back, worked a little on his game, and came back roaring. In his third and fourth round matches, he looked absolutely sensational and was in unbelievable touch. He dominated both of his opponents and looked really determined to win the match.

Now, the battle against the Americans is predicted to be a lot tougher than all his matches till now in the tournament. If he manages to win this, which is highly likely, he will battle it out for a place in the final with either Jannik Sinner or Andrey Rublev in the semi-finals.
