Kangaroos are back at the top again in the longest format of the game whereas Men in Blue slipped to 3rd spot in the latest ICC rankings.

Australia rise to the top in the ICC Test team rankings is mainly due to their sublime performance against arch rivals England where they outclassed three Lions by 4-0. The significant downfall in India’s ranking in Test cricket from number 1 spot to 3rd is due to dismal performance against Proteas where they lost the series by 1-2 after winning 1st Test match at Centurion.

However credit for Australia rise in Test cricket should be given to their new talismanic leader in form of Pat Cummins who displayed splendid performance in the crunch moments of the game against England in recently concluded marquee event.

Australia will be next locking horns against Pakistan for the first time since 1988 and skipper Cummins is hopeful that all his top players will travel Pakistan as the latter is a great cricketing nation and fans absolutely love the game.

India who are languishing at 5th place in WTC standing with four wins, three loss and two draw in 10 games with a win percentage of 49.06 clearly indicates that there is lot of work Men in Blue have to do to regain the top positions in WTC and overall Test rankings.

It would not be easy for them as India’s most successful red ball skipper Virat Kohli step down from his post and someone new will be given reins of India’s red ball captaincy in days to come who will bear the utmost responsibility of beating the standards set by Kohli in Test cricket.
