Atlético Madrid striker available on January free transfer after Club terminate his contract

Atlético Madrid and Striker Diego Costa have mutually parted ways and on Tuesday the team had reached an agreement with striker Diego Costa to have allowed the striker to make an early exit and find a new home.

Diego Costa deal was due to expire at the end of this season though Atlético Madrid said that the striker had asked to leave for “personal reasons” the club did not disclose. 

Although this season with the addition of Luiz Suarez and less playing time as Costa made just seven league appearances for his team this season and scoring only twice.

Atleti said in a statement on Wednesday (AEDT):

“Agreement with @diegocosta for the termination of his contract. The club wishes the striker the best of luck in the next stage of his professional career.”

Overall for Atletico, Deigo Costa has played 215 games in two spells for La Liga giants where he scored 83 goals and provided 36 assists as later he went to Chelsea in three-year spell and won 2 Premier League title.

As news broke out on Tuesday, There were few teams were looking for a striker and the opportunity has just come around for premier league teams likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Wolves are among the teams reportedly sign the free agent this January transfer.

Costa won the La Liga title in 2014-15 season and lifted the Copa del Rey, Europa League and UEFA Super Cup (twice) during his time at the club.
