Ashley Simon Young is an English professional Footballer who plays as Winger for the Premier League club, Manchester United and the English national team.
EARLY LIFE
Young was born on 9th July 1985 in Stevenage, England to Jamaican parents. Young during his school days discovered passion for Football. When he turned ten he enrolled himself in the Watford academy system.
In 2004-05 his performance awarded him the club’s Young Player of the Season Award as well as in the same season his position was promoted as a striker and right-winger.
PERSONAL LIFE
Young married his childhood sweetheart Nicky Pike, the couple is blessed with two children, a younger daughter Ellearna and son Tyler.
CLUB CAREER
In January 2007, he signed the club Aston Villa for 9.65 million pounds, the highest fee Aston Villa had ever paid for a player at the time.
He made his debut for the club against Newcastle United but lost. In 2008 he became the first player ever to win three Premier League Player of the Month in the same year in 2008.
In 2009 he was awarded as the PFA Young Player of the Year Award. On 23rd June 2011, he moved to Manchester United for 15 million on a five-year deal. He made his debut for the club in the 2011 FA Community shield.
On 27th September 2011 UEFA Champions League against Basel. Following his impressive performance, he signed an extended three-year contract with the club.
In April 2017 he captained the Club for the first time in a 2-0 win against Chelsea.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER
Young started to play for his national team from its Under-21 England League squad which took part in the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
On 31st August 2007, he was called up to full England squad in the UEFA Euro 2008 qualifiers. He made his international debut on 16th November 2007 coming as the half time substitute.
CONTROVERSY
In 2017 Young and Alli involved in a 30th minute spat during Manchester’s win over Tottenham after Young claimed he was caught in the face by Spurs right-back Serge Aurier.
