Anjum started playing the sport while studying in Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School in Chandigarh. She did her graduation in humanities from DAV College, Chandigarh. Anjum pursued her masters in sports psychology from the same school.She is currently working as a sub-inspector with Punjab Police, India.

Anjum’s mother, Shubh, is a university-level shooter, while her father, Sudershan Moudgil, is an advocate. It was Anjum’s mother who introduced her to shooting and wanted her to join NCC. Anjum is, in fact, a trained NCC Cadet under Unit Commander Colonel Chauhan. Anjum learnt shooting in NCC where she used to practice under her seniors as she didn’t have a coach at that time.

Anjum won a silver medal in the women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions (3P) event at the ISSF World Cup in Mexico in 2018. She followed it by a silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, scoring 455.7 points in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event.
Anjum rose to number 2 in women’s 10m Air Rifle ISSF rankings in 2018. She honed her skills in the sport under the guidance of Coach Deepali Deshpande. The Indian shooter has bagged as many as 5 medals so far in competitions like ISSF World Cup, Commonwealth Games, and Commonwealth Shooting Championships.
