Andy McBrine was born in Ireland on April 30, 1993. He bowls right-arm off-spin and bats left-handed. Andrew Robert McBrine comes from a family of cricketers. He is the nephew of the famous Ireland cricketer James McBrine and the son of another famous Ireland cricketer Alexander McBrine, who both represented Ireland in cricket.

Domestic Career

Robert McBrine was included on Ireland’s team for the 2013–14 Regional Super50 in the month of January of the year 2014. On January 31, of the year 2014, Robert McBrine played his country of Ireland’s List A debut game against Guyana.

Robert McBrine was chosen to represent the Belfast Titans in the inaugural Euro T20 Slam cricket competition in the month of July of the year 2019. However, the competition didn’t hold the next month.

McBrine participates in provincial cricket with the North West Warriors. Robert McBrine achieved his first century in a List A cricket match in the month of May of the year 2022, scoring 100 runs against Munster Reds in the 2022 Inter-Provincial Cup.

International Career

McBrine made his first-class debut for Ireland against Scotland on May 26, of the year 2013. In the month of September of the year 2014, Andrew Robert McBrine played in his first One Day International (ODI) match against Scotland.

Andrew was included in the team of fourteen in the month May of the year 2018 for Ireland’s inaugural Test match against Pakistan, but he was not chosen to participate.

Robert McBrine was one of nineteen players who received a central contract with Cricket Ireland in the month of December of the year 2018 for the 2019 campaign. McBrine was included in the Ireland team in the month of January of the year 2019 for their one-off Test match against Afghanistan in India. On March 15, of the year 2019, McBrine played in his first Ireland Test match against Afghanistan.

Andy McBrine was one of nineteen players who received a central contract from Cricket Ireland in the month of January of the year 2020. This was the first year that full-time contracts were given out for all contracts. McBrine was included in Ireland’s 21-man squad on July 10, of the year 2020, and will go to England to begin private training for the ODI (One Day International) series against the England cricket team.

In the first ODI (One Day International) game against Afghanistan on January 21, of the year 2021, McBrine recorded his first five-wicket haul and 50th wicket. McBrine was picked to Ireland’s preliminary team in the month of September of the year 2021 for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. McBrine took part in his 100th international game for Ireland in the 2021–22 Oman Quadrangular Series final in the month of February of the year 2022.

Andy McBrine was included in Ireland’s Test team for their matchup with Bangladesh in February 2023. Robert McBrine took his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket on April 5, of the year 2023, in the second innings of the sole Test, becoming the second Irish cricketer to do so. Andrew Robert McBrine’s six for 118 was also the highest bowling performance by an Irish player in a Test inning.
