Bangladesh’s chase began disastrously, losing their opening batsman Tanzid Hasan in the very first over. Wickets continued to tumble throughout the innings, with the experienced Shakib Al Hasan and Soumya Sarkar departing cheaply. Litton Das (54 not out) tried to steady the ship, but a superb bowling display from Afghanistan kept them in check.
The star of the Afghan bowling attack was Naveen-ul-Haq, who bagged a well-deserved Player of the Match award with his exceptional figures of 4 wickets for 26 runs in just 3.5 overs. Rashid Khan, the ever-reliable leg-spinner, also chipped in with 4 crucial wickets, while the other bowlers maintained the pressure with tight bowling spells.

Just as Bangladesh seemed to be getting back into the contest, rain intervened, forcing an early end to the match in the 18th over. With Bangladesh needing 9 runs to win from a revised target of 114 under the Duckworth-Lewis method, Afghanistan emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 8 runs.
This victory marks a significant milestone for Afghan cricket. Having never reached the semifinal stage of the T20 World Cup before, this achievement showed the dedication and hard work of the players and coaching staff. Their fighting spirit and ability to perform under pressure were on full display throughout the match.
