The Oval Invincibles survived a late scare to defeat the London Spirit by two runs in a dramatic last-ball thriller. The Oval Invincibles defeated the London Spirit by 2 runs in a thrilling match at the Kia Oval on Tuesday.

Adam Rossington scored a brilliant 61 runs for the Spirit, but it was not enough to prevent their second defeat of the season. The Spirit, who were chasing 189 posted by the Invincibles, looked to be on course for victory when Adam Rossington hit 61 off 44 balls.

But a late collapse saw them fall short, with Sam Curran’s no-ball from the final delivery giving them a second chance with three needed. Will Jacks (68 off 42) and Heinrich Klassen (35 off 17) helped Invincibles posted a mammoth total of 189 for 4. Jacks then introduced himself with the ball to bag scintillating 2 wickets to secure the win for the Invincibles.

The Invincibles’ victory means they move clear at the top of the Men’s Hundred table, while the Spirit remain in seventh place.

Rossington’s Brilliant Innings in Vain

Rossington’s innings was the highlight of the match. He hit 6 fours and 4 sixes, and was particularly impressive in the powerplay, scoring 43 off 22 balls. But the Spirit’s bowlers did well to restrict the Invincibles after the powerplay, and they were eventually able to restrict them to 187, three runs before the target.

Late Collapse Gives Spirit Hope

The Spirit’s chase got off to a good start, with openers Zak Crawley (19 off 21) and Adam Rossington (61 off 32) putting on 94 runs together for the first wicket. But the Invincibles’ bowlers then struck back, with Will Jacks (2-22) and Adam Zampa (2-24) taking three wickets in quick succession.
