Abhinav Manohar is one of the talented youngsters from Karnataka who is dreaming to play for the national team. He recently made his debut in first class cricket but his fine form has gained traction. Abhinav Manohar is a right handed batsman and a leg break bowler too. The batting all-rounder has already played for Karnataka state team alongside featuring for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. He has represented the likes of Bijapur Bulls and Mangalore United in the past as well.

Early Life & Journey:

Abhinav Manohar Sadarangani, known as Abhinav Manohar, was born on 16 September 1994 in a well-to-do family. The player had registered an early interest in the sport and started attending the coaching at local level. He was ably trained by Irfan Sait. Irfan Sait and Abhinav Manohar’s father had a business establishment in Commercial Street. The acquaintance between both turned to friendship and Irfan Sait took Abhinav Manohar under his wing.

While the age of 14-15 becomes a pivotal point for kids to decide what they want to do in life, Abhinav Manohar was sure about pursuing cricket. What stood out was the player’s determination at that age. Despite getting a knock on his forehead in one of the games, he went on to score a century.

The player continued to impress at U-16 and U-19 stages but the break that he wanted was too far. Abhinav battled weight issues as a teenager. Also, Karnataka state team’s setup of having star players did not help either. However, he kept on chipping runs for Bangalore United Cricket Club in KSCA’s first-division league. He was one of the top run getters for the side. He had made a name for himself as a big-hitter in local cricket.

The pandemic delayed his entry to the state side but it could not keep him away for too long. There was a ray of hope for the player as Karnataka was looking to shore up their batting with regulars being out on national duty. He was handed the debut but before the feeling would soak in, he was out there to avert the crisis for his state team. He successfully maneuvered the chase for the state in a tense finish. He finished that season of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament with 162 runs from four innings at a strike rate of 150.

The player who was not on the radar for the state team was now closer to making his consecutive season with the team. Though he did not get a chance to bat on his Vijay Hazare Trophy debut, Abhinav Manohar now had become the regular for the state side.

This change in fortunes also got him the Indian Premier League contract. Gujarat Titans outbid multiple teams in the auction to get the talented youngster. The auction started with a base price of 20 lakhs, whereas the final bid was at 2.6 crores. In his first season, Abhinav impressed in his first season while looking to continue his fine form in the second.
